Typography Communication is a publication for an educational purpose that includes the text from four essays: Marinetti, Bayer, Tschichold, and Warde. Since the publication was produced to showcase the articles, I used the essays as inspiration to create the layout that honors and enhance the content. The overall style of ‘Typography Communication’ was inspired by a quote from Beatrice Warde, “The book typographer has the job of erecting a window between the reader inside the room and that landscape which is the author’s words.” The yellow and gray color palette creates a modern and soothing style with a pop of the highlighted color which allows the viewer to stay focused on the context and pull-out quotes. To tie in with the idea of the typography being the window of the content, I chose to use ‘Din FF’ as my font to provide a sans-serif style for easier legibility and to reflect the modern style of the publication. With the great amount of negative space and images in the layout, the viewer can dive into the text with concentration and reflect into the images.
